Low2HighDH Project Presented at the “Renewable Energy Sources 2025” Conference in Slovakia

The Low2HighDH project was prominently featured at the 23rd edition of the conference “Obnoviteľné ZdrojE Energie 2025” (Renewable Energy Sources 2025), held in Slovakia on the 6th and 7th of May, 2025, under the theme “Green and Renewable Technologies.” This annual event gathered 80 participants from across the energy sector, including designers, energy engineers, auditors, district heating operators, technology providers, public authorities, researchers, and educators.

The conference programme was structured into five sessions, each dedicated to a key area of the renewable energy transition: Legislation in the field of RES, Solar Energy, Biomass, Heat Pumps, and Geothermal Energy.

During the session on district heating and renewable integration, Martina Mudrá from our project partner Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (STUBA) delivered a lecture titled “International Project Low2HighDH: Application of RES in District Heating Systems.” Her presentation outlined the project’s central goals and activities, which aim to support the transition of high-temperature district heating (DH) systems in Slovakia, Poland, and Lithuania toward the use of low-grade and renewable heat sources such as solar thermal, geothermal, and heat pumps.

Martina also presented the initial results of a short online survey exploring the current status and potential for integrating renewable energy in DH systems, and shared information about the project’s multinational partnership — involving organisations from Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, and Slovakia.

Attendees were introduced to the project’s website and LinkedIn profile, where further updates and insights can be followed. The project’s presentation sparked positive reactions from the professional audience, indicating a growing interest in the application of RES in the heating sector.

Additionally, an article on the Low2HighDH project is included in the official conference proceedings, helping extend the project’s visibility and outreach among key stakeholders in Slovakia and the broader Central European region.
